Welcome to the Greystones Chamber's website.
It is my privilege to welcome you to the Greystones and District Chamber of Commerce web site.
As you will see from the information contained on the web site, the commercial life of the district which this Chamber serves, is alive and well. Greystones, Kilcoole, Newcastle and Newtownmountkennedy are all areas represented and we are dedicated to furthering the commercial success of all of our members enterprises. There is no doubt that there is currently a change evident in trading conditions for all businesses and huge pressure on companies to continue to make their businesses thrive in a period of economic downturn.
It is in such a time that a group like the Chamber of Commerce can be of great importance to its' members given the position of the Chamber movement to act as a lobby group to pressurise the government at national level. More importantly for local business the strength of the Chamber can bring its lobbying power to pressure local politicians to implement strategic planning in order to assist with maintaining and enhancing economic growth in our own community during the difficult times. We have been successfully doing this since our inception and have developed very good relations with all our local representatives.
Greystones and District Chamber of Commerce is one of the 4 County Wicklow Chambers that makes up the Co Wicklow Chamber, a group which in turn represents almost 600 businesses throughout the County. We are rightfully proud to be part of the first such County initiative in Ireland and are delighted with its' success to date. The most important function undertaken by the Co Wicklow Chamber was the hosting of the recent National Business Forum in the Marriott Hotel in Druid's Glen to which delegates from all over the country came. The theme of the conference was "Summit for growth, the next phase" and it was a timely reminder to all who attended that there is still room for growth in the Irish economy and that all is not necessarily doom and gloom. Yes it is true that the glint has left the eyes of the Celtic Tiger, but that is not to say it won't return after a period of reflection and maturing - its time for the Tiger to grow up!
Greystones and District Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to our area. You will find a wide range of businesses in the Chambers jurisdiction and we would encourage you to support their endeavours whether you are a business a resident or are just visiting us. In addition there can surely be few areas in the Country that are better served in terms of leisure pursuits than this. There are numerous top quality sports and leisure facilities in the area including golf, tennis, horse riding, sailing, fishing and rowing, not to mention Gaelic Football, soccer and rugby clubs, all of which are thriving. You will find a warm welcome here in the Garden of Ireland.
Our new harbour and marina development is under way and we are looking forward to seeing the new harbour take shape over the next few years.
